Artist’s Statement
My work revolves around journeys, family rituals and brief encounters with a perceived escape from everyday life
Much of my practice is also informed by literature, from early readers and children’s classics to detective fiction and the works of Virginia Woolf.
Each ‘project’ has become an ongoing investigation which will be constantly revisited and revised. I hope to create work which raises questions and evokes discussion. In order to do this I want to be free to employ which ever medium I consider suitable. The work gradually evolves as I explore how best to express the concepts I am dealing with at the time. I may begin with a series of digital prints, move into video and then develop the work further through painting, sculpture or installation, producing pieces which are conceptually linked but varied in resolution Conceptual, artist, Annie Ward, fine art, painting, literature, art, photography, journeys, mixed media
